The phrase, "Long Tail Search" your key to profits in 2008
I have talked about this before, but it is more important
now
than ever before and the best part is that most webmasters
are
ignoring it.
Everyone goes head-to-head competing for the two or three
important keyword phrases in their industry. There's no
problem
with this, but don't ignore the 101 other phrases people
use to
search for your product or service or information about
your
product or service.
For example, if 50% of the searches in your industry were
for one
of three different phrases, that means that the other 50%
of the
searches were for the so-called "long tail" phrases.
Long tail phrases are phrases that are more than just the
two or
three words normally used. They are for different words or
for
the common phrases PLUS two or three more words.
Google likes exact matches and if you have the exact match
for a
six-word phrase on your site, Google will put your site at
the
top of the list when that phrase is searched for.
Bottom line: Add as many long phrases about your product
or
service as you can think of on your site. They don't all
have to
be on your Home page, in fact, you couldn't get 101
phrases on
your Home page.
